Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and Maglia Giallo Rossa Finn Fisher-Black said: “This was not the plan at all. I was also expecting Diego to win. I got a gap at the bottom of the climb. I looked back and no one was behind. The sport director on the radio told me to keep going. I didn’t believe I’d win until I crossed the finish line. This is my first pro win and it’s very important for me as I broke my leg last year and coming back was the most difficult thing in my life so far”.
